By using household panel data to analyze the determinants of chronic and transient poverty in Nepal, poverty traps can be identified. Nepal already is very low ranking in all indicators of human development. The importance of understanding how these indicators interact is to gain insights how to potentially prescribe chronic and transient poverty.
This presentation is based on AMA Innovation Lab projects for the Poverty Traps Conference. This conference is a gathering point for USAID and other development assistant agencies to connect the poor to economic growth.
This presentation was presented by Suman Sharma from Tribhuwan University at Washington, DC on February 26, 2009.
